Food for thought.

Watching Chuck Norris in Code of Silence, while I wait for my assignment to print out so I can correct a first draft.

Favorite quote, as Chuck walks in to a bar, "If I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you."

I remember those special Chuck Norris jeans that they would feature in the back of comic books. The ones with a little extra fabric in the inseam so that you could do those high kicks.

Oops, Chuck just got bitch-slapped in a bar. He ain't kicking high no more.

'nuff said.

Plus ca change.

Now that the Iraqi elections are over, we get back to the more important things in life. Like the Michael Jackson trial, for instance. Good thing CNN is looking out for us, giving the trial pride of place on the home page today.

Oh well.

Back to working on an assignment that I have to hand in today.

Also, applied for 3 jobs last night. Need to do some more tomorrow, before meeting with my mentor at the Jeune Chambre.

Things are looking up, purple finger or not.

Le savant et le politique

Read Max Weber's seminal work last week, Le Savant et le Politique, for no discernible reason. Quite good. Not that I care. Wink wink.

Went snowboarding on Saturday and skating today. Much fun.

Working applying for jobs and reading an article about the first world war, again for no discernible reason. :)

Decisions. Decisions.

Do I watch the A-Team with Mr T's gold 'jewry' or do I watch Richard Dean Anderson's mullet on McGyver ? Second question, do I leave the TV volume on or throw on some kick ass techno/trance.

I'm in line for some smoked meat tomorrow. Shipping new software release and they have invited me in for that. Yum.

Busy.

Been working for a few weeks now on perfecting a series of gang signs (like Crips or Blood) that I have developed to signify what school you go to. (I am old school by the way!).

So far, I can do signs for Concordia, UMontreal, and Laval, the three I have gone to. Represent!!!

Can even do one for those snot-nosed punks at McGill. (I hate'm, you hate'm, we all hate'm!!!)

Doing UQAM, where I am taking a history course right now, is a little difficult though.

Scandalous.

Watching Sigourney Weaver in Aliens while listening to Prince singing ÈWhen Doves Cry' while camped out on the floor in my family room. Had to turn the volume of stereo down as it was a little too much 'in my face'!

Had a J-O-B interview this morning. Went well.

News at the current job is CEO out and reduced work weeks. Ouch.

Move along little doggie.

Yesterday, I was in court following up on the mofo who assaulted me in Xmas 2003. Pleaded guilty he did. Added one more strike to his existing rap sheet. not much satisfaction for me though. Did get $50 for being a witness, which I used to buy food. :)

January 19, 2005

Ouch.

Some piece of shit is sending out e-mails with my other domain name on them. Liable to leave me in the shitter and banned on a good number of ISPs. Aarrgh.

Put away Diplomacy for now. Started reading some book about European history from 1815-1989 for no discernible reason. :)

Lessons learned.

Eating too many jujubees at once makes me feel all grouse inside.

Reread a chapter of Kissinger's Diplomacy for no discernible reason at all this afternoon. Have a feeling I will do the same for a few more chapters. Hmm. Wonder why?

Had a good weekend overall, with much time spent with HCW™. Went figure skating twice on the manmade lake in our subdivision. Fell on my ass, not on the lake, but on a pathway to the lake. You know the kind, fly up in the air, land on hip, a skate goes flying in the process. Pretty sore.

Watched more Miami Vice in the last 2 days than in the past 15 years. And I gotta say, the acting was not that good. Jeez, does your perspective change when you get older.

Watched John Carpenter's They Live last night. The great cult film with Rowdy Roddy Piper and mind-controlling aliens.

Favorite quotes include:

"Brother, life's a bitch. And she's back in heat."

"I'm here to kick some ass and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of bubble gum."

What else is there to say? :-)

Vice.

Watching Miami Vice on SpikeTV while working on my web site. Fond memories of Friday nights during junior high school. There weren't many, so this one stands out.

The man with the plan suggested that I double down today, so I did. Sensory deprivation is the new new. Not enough to stop the pleasure provided by jujubees though.

Cryptic is what cryptic is not, Daddy-O.

Spellbound.

Watching Spellbound while fuming over missed opportunities. Full of post-pubescent nerds who love words. What fun! People who look like me! When this over, I can go back to fantasizing about the train set I want to build in the basement. Yum!

Damn. Another missed opportunity.

Stopped in to Chapters on the way home from a breakfast downtown. Came across a book called, Hello, I'm Special, released last year which describes how many people, in wanting to demonstrate their individuality, basically fall back into the faceless masses of conformity.

Yep, another book that this adroit, cynical, observer of contemporary society could have written at least two years ago. Was I the only one who noticed all the individuals (in Dilbert parlance) walking around as wiggers, or chicks who had tattoos on their backs pointing at their asses (so, their boyfriends would know where there ass was, is my guess), or who spiked their hair up like the host of American Idol, or, a particular specialty here in Quebec, short, plump women in their 50s with their hair died orange?!?

Fascinating. Yes and No.

Preferring learning to entertainment, I put down my copy of Bret Easton Ellis' The Rules of Attraction, started only yesterday and following up on William Gibson's All Tomorrow's Parties, and picked up Gwynne Dyer's Future Tense: The Coming World Order.

The verdict. Engrossing. Ties a lot of things regarding the US invasion of Iraq, the goal of Al-Qaeda, and the project of the neo-cons together well. Definitely on my recommended reading list.

In fact, I read the entire thing--254 pages--today, starting at around 3:30PM, taking time out only for regular body functions, eating, sharing a few pleasantries with HCW™ and tucking her in for bedtime.

With that done, I am now watching some cheesy 'ninjas in Africa' movie on the Drive-In Classics digital cable channel as part of Martial Arts Movie Monday. And just like a middling Jackie Chan flick, even the white (and black) people have dubbed voices. Australian accents even for the American ninja.

Going to get caught up on my e-mail now. Maybe do some social networking, moving up from my no. 20 ranking among other things, etc. :-) Finished the puzzle yesterday. Thinking of starting another one.
