Without a paddle.
In a moment of distraction, or was it resignation?, I let my extended guarantee pon my PowerBook lapse. Somewhere in there, the video chip on my motherboard went haywire, rendering everything pretty much unreadable. No data lost, just unable to read it on screen. Well some, but painfully. Artful moving of mice and application-swoitching to refresh selected portions of the screen.
Current plan is to buy a new computer in the first week of January, when I can benefit from a special employer spiff.
Do I go for the all-in-one iMac G5 which blows my budget ?
Do I go for the cheaper and much slower Mac mini along with a flat screen ?
Do I hold off for an extra week to see what Steve Jobs announces at MacWorld later that week ? (if not the one after)... rumors of the first Intel-based Mac are floating around...
Challenge in the coming days ...
